FirstNews Briefs: Netgear, AT&T, Belkin, Sylvania, Tuxera

NETGEAR, Inc. today announced an “unlocked” 4G LTE mobile hotspot with simultaneous dual-band WiFi coverage. The NETGEAR AirCard 785 4G LTE mobile hotspot will become available throughout Europe in October at an MSRP of €149.99 (EUR) and £119.99 (GBP).

AT&T today announced six applications to the company’s connected car platform, AT&T Drive. Each app is voice enabled, and geared towards providing drivers with new solutions for safety, infotainment, and convenience. The apps will be available to auto manufacturers for inclusion in their connected car options, and will provide drivers with a range of services including weather forecasts, parking updates, and personalized radio. Developers of the apps include AccuWeather, Glympse, iHeartRadio, Stitcher, Streetline, Inc. with the Parker app, and Tribune Digital Ventures. Additionally, AT&T announced a sponsorship agreement with TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. for the AT&T Drive Studio.

Belkin International and OSRAM SYLVANIA today announced that the two companies have entered into a strategic partnership to collaborate on residential solutions with the OSRAM LIGHTIFY smart connected lighting ecosystem and Belkin’s WeMo home automation ecosystem. OSRAM SYLVANIA will first add WeMo compatibility to the SYLVANIA ULTRA iQ BR30 LED light bulb, followed by a broader portfolio of connective lighting products for the home shortly after the launch of OSRAM LIGHTIFY in Europe this fall.

Tuxera Inc, a provider of file system and streaming technologies, today announced that Tuxera’s cross-platform content streaming solution AllConnect SDK is now available for evaluation. AllConnect is a technology compatible with all devices that support Apple Airplay, Google Chromecast, DIAL or DLNA standard.
