FirstNews Briefs: Nissan, NASA, ZTE, Duracell, MeetMe

Nissan Motor Co., through its North American-based organization, and NASA today announced the formation of a five-year research and development partnership to advance autonomous vehicle systems and prepare for commercial application of the technology. Nissan has set 2020 as the timeframe for the introduction of autonomous drive vehicles that have the ability to navigate in nearly all situations including city driving.

ZTE Corporation has announced that ZTE Health, a member of the world wide acting ZTE Group, has signed two Memorandums of Understanding: one with the Netherlands Organization for applied scientific research (TNO) and the other one with the Economic Development Board of Almere (EDBA). The partners agreed to cooperate in the fields of eHealth and creating a smart city to enable improvements and benefits for the residents of both the city of Almere and the metropolitan area of Amsterdam.

Ballistic Case Co., provider of protection for smartphones and tablets, officially announced a partnership with Duracell. Ballistic and Duracell are in exploratory discussions regarding the multi-product collection. The new line, potentially launching in 2015, may include protective power case solutions for Apple iPhone and android products.

MeetMe, Inc., the public market provider for social discovery, announced that earlier this week it surpassed 1.1 million mobile daily active users (DAU) for the first time ever.
