By Wireless Week staff | December 12, 2014

Qualcomm Incorporated today announced that it and its subsidiaries have committed to invest an aggregate of $40M into four Chinese companies and the China Walden Venture Investments, L.P. fund, which is primarily focused on investing in semiconductor or semiconductor-related companies with business in China. Qualcomm announced that 7Invensun, an eye-tracking solution provider; Chukong Technologies, a mobile entertainment platform provider; inPlug, a smart home device/platform solution provider; Unisound, a voice recognition and processing technology provider; and the China Walden Ventures Investment are all expected to be funded through the Company’s $150 Million strategic China venture fund that was announced earlier this year.

Trimble today introduced a new portfolio of time and frequency products to address the synchronization needs of the growing 4G LTE small cell market. The Mini-T GG Disciplined Clock is a multi-GNSS (GPS and GLONASS) embedded module, optimized to generate 10MHz output and pulse per second. The Trimble 360 multi-GNSS receiver is designed to cover the full spectrum of small cells—residential femtocell to rural microcell. The Resolution SMT 360 is available in the same 19 x 19 mm form factor, and provides a pulse per second that provides nanosecond accuracy to any application.

Murata Electronics North America, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and Peregrine Semiconductor Corporation, founder of RF silicon on insulator (SOI) and pioneer of advanced RF solutions, today announce that Murata has acquired all outstanding shares of Peregrine. The cash transaction paid the holders of Peregrine common shares $12.50 per share.

AT&T has announced that it filled more than 180 new jobs in South Carolina in 2014, part of more than 300 jobs filled statewide this year. Further, the company has hired more than 26,000 people across the U.S. during that same period.
