FirstNews Briefs: Sharp, Sprint, AT&T, SmartPlay, Intel, Samsung

Sharp selected Sprint to launch its first AQUOS wireless phone available in the United States, Sharp AQUOS Crystal. Sprint will offer AQUOS Crystal in two color options (black or white). With Sprint Easy Pay, well-qualified buyers can purchase AQUOS Crystal with $0 down (plus tax) and 24 monthly payments of $10 (service plan is required). Sharp AQUOS Crystal will be available in black at www.virginmobileusa.com and in white at www.BoostMobile.com, both for $149.99 (plus tax). Exact availability will be announced at a later date.

AT&T is now offering companies in the transportation industry fleet management solutions. AT&T Fleet Management Solutions provides field workers such as long-haul, private, and commercial truck drivers with near real-time information on the status of deployed vehicles and equipment.

SmartPlay Inc., a design services company with working in digital, analog, wireless software and system design, announced that it is ready to offer design services to customers of Intel Custom Foundry that require IP in critical embedded applications. SmartPlay will provide support in SoC implementations and will offer turnkey services ranging from RTL/Netlist to GDSII.

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. today introduced Samsung Smart Signage TV (SSTV), an all-in-one digital signage solution designed for small, single-location business owners. Samsung SSTV combines the functionality of a TV with built-in content management software for creating personalized promotional content. It features MagicInfo Mobile, which allows businesses to make updates or upload photos to promotional materials directly from their Android or iOS mobile device using an app.
