FirstNews Briefs: Sprint, Spreadtrum, ZigBee Alliance, Keynote

Sprint announced that it is working with Pogoplug to add unlimited cloud storage to its suite of unlimited services. Sprint customers can now access 5GB of cloud storage for no additional charge through Pogoplug, with the option to upgrade to unlimited storage for $4.99 per month.

Spreadtrum Communications, Inc. introduced its single-core smartphone platform for WCDMA, TD-SCDMA and EDGE, which integrates a Cortex-A7 CPU running at speeds up to 1.2GHz as well as GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth and FM connectivity functions.

ZigBee Alliance, a global ecosystem of organizations creating wireless solutions for use in energy management, commercial and consumer applications, announced that a group of smart metering and smart grid member companies are developing a communication profile aimed at achieving plug-and-play interoperability between the members’ wireless smart grid Neighborhood Area Network (NAN) products and solutions.

Keynote, a provider of mobile and website cloud testing & monitoring, has acquired Meucci Solutions NV, a provider of mobile fraud detection and end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) monitoring. Meucci will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Keynote reporting into Keynote SIGOS. It will continue to provide uninterrupted support to customers from Gent, Belgium.
