FirstNews Briefs: T-Mobile, Huawei, ROK Mobile, Boingo

T-Mobile is now taking online pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 – 2014 Edition. It will be available for immediate purchase online and in participating retail stores nationwide beginning June 4 for $99.99 down (and 24 monthly payments of $23 on T-Mobile’s Equipment Installment Plan). Beginning May 30, T-Mobile will offer the new limited edition Samsung Galaxy S 5 in metallic gold for a limited time in select T-Mobile retail stores and online at T-Mobile.com.

Huawei today announced the appointment of Ming He as Country General Manager of its operations in the United States. In this role, Mr. He will be based in the company’s Plano, Texas, headquarters and have operational responsibility and provide strategic oversight for both the Carrier Network business group and the Enterprise business group within the United States.

ROK Mobile has signed with major and independent music labels in order to create a cellular service and music app that effectively combines the mobile and music industries in one. ROK Mobile will offer a full 20-million-song music catalogue from any mobile device, laptop or tablet, as a wireless provider.

Boingo Wireless and Philips Arena, a concert and event venue and home of the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks, today announced an exclusive wireless network partnership. Boingo will design, install and manage neutral host cellular Distributed Antenna System (DAS) and Wi-Fi networks at the Arena for fan use. The networks are slated to launch prior to the next NBA season.
