FirstNews Briefs: U.S. Cellular, SkyWave, WiTricity, Shazam

U.S. Cellular today launched a 4G LTE Router for consumers and small businesses. The service is $20 per month when added on to any Shared Connect plan, and the device is available online and in U.S. Cellular stores for $99.99 with a two-year agreement.

SkyWave Mobile Communications, a global provider of satellite based communications for the Machine-to-Machine (M2M) market, today announced the availability of HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) with IDP 700 satellite-cellular terminals.

WiTricity, a provider of wireless power transfer over distance, today announced that it has named Alex Gruzen as CEO. Gruzen succeeds Eric Giler who, in his five-plus year term as CEO, established WiTricity’s business foundation and commercial capabilities. Giler will continue in his capacity as a member of the WiTricity Board of Directors.

Shazam, a media engagement company, today announced that industry pioneer, Lauren Zalaznick, has joined the Shazam Board as an independent Board member. Ms. Zalaznick’s experience working in the television and film industries  includes her tenure as Executive Vice President NBCUniversal.
