FirstNews Briefs: Verizon, Sprint, Multi-Tech, Aeris, Boost, Virgin, Samsung

Starting today, new FiOS TV or FiOS Internet customers (including existing customers who add new service to their existing account) will receive a free LG G Pad 8.3 LTE, or receive up to $200 off any other tablet available from Verizon Wireless when obtaining a new, two-year agreement. The carrier also announced it has expanded its XLTE AWS network to Houston, Beaumont/Port Arthur, Bryan/College Station and other locations in Texas to boost LTE network capacity and enhance high-speed services.

Today Sprint announced the availability of Total Equipment Protection (TEP) Plus, a protection service for your device, data and virtually any connection to it. TEP Plus combines a customer’s existing TEP coverage – which includes protection from loss, theft, damage and device malfunction – and adds built-in antivirus security, automatic backup of photos and videos, and one-click access to a tech expert fordevice support – all for $13 per month per device.

Multi-Tech Systems, a provider of machine-to-machine technology, today announced end device approval for its new HSPA+ MultiConnect PCIe Mini Card cellular modem on the Aeris Communications network.

Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile USA announced today the availability of the Samsung Galaxy S 5, priced at $599.99.
