FirstNews Briefs: Verizon, Sprint, Seagate, Avago, Globys, Boost Mobile

Verizon Communications Inc. today announced the commencement of a private offer to exchange (the “Exchange Offer”) up to all of Cellco Partnership’s and Verizon Wireless Capital LLC’s (together, “Verizon Wireless”) £600,000,000 outstanding aggregate principal amount of 8.875% Notes due December 18, 2018 (the “Existing Notes”) for Verizon’s new sterling-denominated notes due 2024 (the “New Notes”) and an amount of cash. The Exchange Offer is conditioned on at least £300,000,000 aggregate principal amount of Existing Notes being validly tendered.

The three-month Sprint Mobile Health Accelerator will culminate with a Demo Day event on June 12 in Kansas City. The 10 startups represent a range of solutions in mobile health care.

Seagate Technology plc and Avago Technologies Limited, a semiconductor device supplier to the enterprise storage, wired, wireless and industrial end markets, today announced that they have entered into a definitive asset purchase agreement under which Seagate will acquire the assets of LSI’s Accelerated Solutions Division and Flash Components Division from Avago for $450 million in cash.

Globys announced its new scientific marketing capabilities which replaces traditional A/B testing with automated machine learning and helps mobile operators reduce churn by 10+% and increase ARPUs by 12-15 percent.

Boost Mobile and celebrity ‘coaches’ Ice-T and Luis Guzman kick off Boost Mobile’s “Spokesbattle” today, an interactive reality TV-style campaign that puts two people against each other and lets consumers vote to determine who will be the next Boost Mobile Spokesperson.
