FirstNews Briefs: Verizon, ZTE, Intuit, Shopify, 5BARz

By Wireless Week staff | March 12, 2015

Verizon said it has an agreement to add more than 200 hours of original content per year produced by AwesomenessTV to be available for customers later this year through over the top video.

ZTE Corporation noted that one patent of Vringo Inc. and its subsidiaries was invalidated by the Patent Re-examination Board of the State Intellectual Property Office of the People’s Republic of China because of lack of invention. The patent, numbered 02806506.9, which is related to wireless communication, was wholly invalidated by the Patent Re-examination Board. So far, six Vringo patents have been invalidated by the board. The decisions in China followed Vringo’s efforts to license to ZTE a broad patent portfolio, including patents that were invalidated by the Patent Re-examination Board. The United States Patent and Trademark Office has also been requested by ZTE Corporation to re-examine five patents of Vringo Inc. and its subsidiaries last month.

Intuit Inc. is delivering an integration between QuickBooks Online and Shopify, a commerce platform that allows anyone to sell online, at their retail location and everywhere in between. The integration will allow Shopify merchants to automatically update and transfer accounting data.

5BARz International, Inc., a provider of technology for the cellular network extender industry, is pleased to announce that its subsidiary 5BARz India has hired Samartha Raghava Nagabhushanam to serve as Managing Director and CEO.
