The app store GetJar announced that it will make its entire library of more than 60,000 free mobile applications available to Rogers customers at no charge.
Customers will get access to GetJar’s massive library of applications via a GetJar link on the Rogers Application page accessible from the mobile Internet on their wireless device.
GetJar offers everything from games, social networking, sports, entertainment and productivity applications. Popular apps, such as Facebook Mobile, Weather Channel Mobile, Fandango and Snap2Twitter, also can be downloaded to a variety of wireless devices.
“We are very excited that Rogers is working and cooperating with GetJar to meet the demands of its customers,” said Ilja Laurs, founder and CEO of GetJar, in a statement. “This agreement, much like our recent announcement with Sprint Nextel, allows Rogers to immediately connect all its customers with over 60,000 free applications with very little effort.”
Rogers joins other companies already using GetJar’s open app store approach, including Sprint, Sony Ericsson, 3UK, Carphone Warehouse and Virgin Mobile France.
GetJar offers branded solutions, such as is the case with Rogers, and also white label solutions using its app catalog express (ACE) service. GetJar supports more than 2,000 handsets across all major platforms, including smartphones and feature phones.
