GIV Mobile Wants Consumers To Know Why Their Carrier “Sucks”

By Diana Goovaerts | September 30, 2015

GIV Mobile, a no-contract wireless provider that donates a portion of its subscribers’ monthly Unlimited Everything plans to charity, has launched a new website aimed at showing wireless consumers the downsides to sticking with traditional carriers.

The site, dubbed YourWirelessCompanySucks.com, takes visitors through a visual pros and cons comparison between GIV and traditional carriers. Among the downsides of traditional carriers, according to the site, are their “hefty” monthly fees, lack of charity giving or giving transparency and contracts that lock customers into 2-year deals. On the flip side, GIV says it offers low cost plans, giving options that allow users to donate 8 percent of their plan cost to the charity of their choice and a contract free experience.

“We don’t think consumers should have to settle when choosing a wireless carrier,” said GIV Mobile SVP of Operations Omar Abhari. “The cell phone is very personal and says more about us than most other things we own or use. It is our wallet, computer, ID card, diary, camera and essentially our identity. YourWirelessCompanySucks.com brings consumers up to speed about the many benefits of GIV Mobile and shows how every plan provides a great value for the price.”

According to details available on the site, GIV Mobile offers no-contract plans ranging from $20 to $60 with unlimited talk and text across the board. Unlimited data is also available on plans in the $25 to $60 range, though data speeds vary depending on the price point.

Though GIV’s prices beat many traditional carrier plans – though temporarily tied with Sprint $60 Unlimited plan, which is set to see a price increase in a few weeks – GIV Mobile’s plans also appear to compare favorably on price with several prepaid carriers, such as Straight Talk, AT&T’s GoPhone and Verizon’s Prepaid.

Similar to other prepaid brands, GIV Mobile functions as an MVNO that piggybacks on T-Mobile. Users, therefore, can expect to have service in all areas covered by the Un-Carrier.

In terms of charitable giving, GIV offers its customers the opportunity to donate part of their monthly costs to a number of organizations, including Action Against Hunger, Kids In Need Foundation, Mercy Housing, The Humane Society of the United States, The Conservation Fund and American Forests.

GIV Mobile allows customers to either bring their own unlocked device to the service or purchase a new one from the carrier.

“We are an independent wireless service provider who doesn’t suck, isn’t evil, cares about you and your pocket, and cares about saving the world one donation at a time,” the site’s text reads. “Spread the love. Spread the word. Save Money. Save the world.”
