Let the games begin – the games on the Android platform, that is. Glu Mobile said its new original title, Bonsai Blast, will launch in the Android Market for free.
Alex Galvagni, senior vice president of global production and chief technology officer at Glu Mobile, said the process of developing for the Android platform was “great,” and Google’s tools, including the emulator, worked well.
Glu is working aggressively to get involved in new platforms early, he said. It has launched one game for the Apple Apps store and others are in development. The Android and Apple platforms share some similarities – both offer high-end graphics and allow for large applications and games, “which is fantastic for us,” he said.
Features of Bonsai Blast, an action-puzzle game, include an accelerometer; more than 20 levels themed with water, fire, earth and wind; and gameplay variations via ricochets, tunneled chains and swappable shooter locations.
The game will be available to T-Mobile USA customers when the G1 phone, based on the Android platform, goes on sale next month.
PAC-MAN by Namco is another game featured in the Android Market site.
