High Density Switching Power Supplies

By Staff Author | January 7, 2002

A new series of highly compact hot swap, 200 watt power supplies &#151 in a 1U high package that provides system designers the maximum flexibility in placing system power &#151 has been introduced by Deltron. The new L Series AC/DC power supplies provide 7 watts per cubic inch power density in a compact 1.580 H 3 1.860 W 3 10.080 L package. Units can be used alone or combined to provide multiple outputs for powering a wide variety of computing and telecommunications applications. Optional drop current sharing with isolation diodes form the basis of a hot pluggable, redundant system.

Features of the single output L Series include a 0.95 power factor and 80% typical efficiency. The power supplies are self-cooled, with an integral ball bearing fan, and feature a rugged enclosed chassis and interfaces for high reliability and safety.

Deltron offers six models, ranging in output from 1.8 V at 35 A, to 48 V at 4.2 A. Standard features of each unit include over voltage protection, overload and short circuit protection, and reverse voltage protection. All L Series power supplies meet all applicable international EMI and safety standards and harmonics requirements.
