High Performance Tunable Radio-Frequency (RF) Filters for Next-Generation Radio Communications and Radar

By Staff Author | December 16, 2010

SAN JOSE, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — Active Spectrum Inc. announced a breakthrough in tunable filter technology for co-site interference mitigation in next generation wireless communication systems and radar. Next generation wireless communication systems, like the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) and other Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems, will operate simultaneously on many frequency bands. Interference between high power transmit radio signals and low-level receive signals is a persistent problem.

The new miniature tunable filters show unprecedented capability for isolating transmit and receive signals, including low insertion loss (1.0dB), high RF power handling capability (20W), and very wide tuning in the 225 MHz to 6000 MHz bands, resulting in superior communications range and reduced interference. The filters can be configured for 2 to 4 poles with wideband tuning covering octave bands.
