HP today announced that the Wi-Fi version of its HP TouchPad tablet will be available in the United States on July 1, with availability in the United Kingdom, Ireland, France and Germany following a few days later and in Canada in mid-July.
HP TouchPad will be available from U.S. retailers, commercial resellers and direct from HP with the option of either 16 GB or 32 GB of internal storage for $499.99 and $599.99, respectively. Pre-orders in North America and Europe will begin June 19.
The long-awaited TouchPad, which was unveiled at a press event in February, features a 9.7-inch touchscreen, front-facing camera, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, Bluetooth 2.1 and a high-end audio system by Beats.
The tablet also features HP’s Touch Share capability, which allows wireless sharing of Web addresses between other webOS devices.
HP also said it will be partnering with AT&T to introduce a connected (the company didn’t say whether that would mean 3G or 4G) version of HP TouchPad later this summer. More information will be available closer to availability.
