According to a report in DigiTimes, handset maker HTC posted revenues of $1.08 billion for Q1 2008 in a company filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange. Revenue was up almost 39% from the same period last year, but fell 16.2% when compared to the previous quarter.
The paper said the quarterly figures were higher than analysts had expected and that in just March the company’s revenues totaled $362 million. Net income rose to $225 million from $181 million for the same quarter last year.
HTC is chalking up the better-than-expected results to high demand for new handsets, particularly touch-enabled models.
The company said it will release details on its quarterly report on April 25.
