Dubai-based handset manufacturer I-Mate has issued a warning that Qualcomm failed to supply it with sufficient chips for its planned U.S. handset rollout.
“Although we have devices which are not dependent on this chipset, it has a significant impact on the range of product we have to sell,” said CEO Jim Morrison, in the statement. The company also said that the chip shortage will affect two of the seven Windows Mobile-based handset models it offers.
I-Mates shares slipped to a 2-year low on the London Stock Exchange after it issued the warning. Shares in the company have dropped by more than 89% over the past year.
