In more RIM news, India’s telecom ministry is not looking to ban BlackBerry services at this time. Security agencies were reportedly discussing possible security risks posed by sending and receiving e-mails over the wireless devices. Some officials are concerned because the way information is transmitted and encrypted is too complex to monitor.
Reuters reports that the Indian Telecom Secretary Siddhartha Behura said there is no question of banning the devices or service at this point, but representatives from the four carriers that offer BlackBerry service in India are meeting with the department to discuss security concerns. Behura reportedly said the agency is hoping carriers can get RIM to provide answers to the security agency’s questions.
