Industry’s First Link Level Validation Of 5G Base Station And Handset Designs

5G communications systems architects who need to finalize 28GHz mobile phone system designs to satisfy Verizon and KT 5G trial standards can now integrate 5G compliant baseband modem, reference 28GHz RFIC architecture and MIMO phased array in simulation to quickly iterate and validate their designs. The latest release of SystemVue 2017 Electronic System Level (ESL) simulation software enables the industry’s first 5G link level validation with RF phased array beamforming in mm wave channel environments that is required for 5G standards compliance.

SystemVue 2017 offers Phased Array and MIMO beamforming system architects unprecedented ease, speed and accuracy in defining and simulating phased array antenna systems of any size. It uniquely offers the accuracy of incorporating measured S-, X- or Sys-parameters of RF splitters, phase shifters, attenuators, amplifiers with 3D antenna element patterns to accurately analyze the effects of array coupling, quantization, compression, polarization and intermods on beam characteristics. It is even possible to analyze array radiated spectral mask for compliance with FCC rules. SystemVue 2017 also comes with new standards libraries for Automotive Radar, 802.11ax WLAN and NB-IoT (LTE Advanced Pro).

The new automotive radar library in Systemvue 2017 satisfies the need for designing FMCW radars operating at millimeter wave frequencies from 24 GHz to 79 GHz. New micro-Doppler moving pedestrian channel models provide realistic verification of automotive radar designs in detecting human targets.

The next generation of wireless LAN 802.11ax will become available in 2019 and promises 40% higher speed and 4x better spectral efficiency compared to the current 802.11ac standard. SystemVue 2017 now comes with updated 802.11ax WLAN standards library to enable early design starts for the next generation of wireless networking equipment.

Narrow Band Internet-of-Things (NB-IoT), also called LTE Advanced Pro, is a new wireless standard for indoor low power wide area network (LPWAN) of many connected devices. It is optimized for low cost and long battery life. SystemVue 2017 offers an updated baseband exploration library to enable early design starts of NB-IoT devices.
