Although they don’t yet have the iPad yet, international markets are getting their first glimpses of country-specific iPad app stores. The new stores come a week earlier than expected.
Up to this point, those who live outside the United States, but might have already obtained an iPad, have had to find a way to get a U.S. iTunes account if they wanted apps for their device. That’s no easy feat when Apple only accepts U.S. debit or credit cards when signing up for an account.
According to numerous reports, those apps that international users might have downloaded from the U.S. App Store will have to be repurchased.
The iPad will be available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the U.K. on May 28 and has been available for pre-order since May 10.
International launch of the device has been delayed twice now because of high demand in the United States. According to Apple, initial demand for the iPad has exceeded sales for the first iPhone.
