The U.S. Justice Department last week sided with Apple in the latest legal spat between the Silicon Valley icon and Korean rival Samsung.

DOJ attorneys wrote in a filing that the U.S. Supreme Court should reject a request from Samsung to reconsider one award in the long-running patent dispute, CNET reports.

Apple in 2011 accused Samsung of violating its patents by copying numerous design elements of the iPhone for its own smartphones. The latest battle came after a federal appeals last year court reinstated a $120 million award owed to Apple for infringement of its autocorrect and phone-unlocking features.

Samsung earlier this year filed a writ of certiorari asking the Supreme Court to review the ruling. Apple responded that the high court did not need to take that step, and DOJ officials, according to CNET, agreed.

“In the view of the United States, the petition for a writ of certiorari should be denied,” DOJ attorneys wrote in the filing.
