KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has tapped End2End Connectivity to provide its customers with flight status notifications via SMS. KLM passengers who have registered on KLM.com are notified via SMS of pertinent travel information such as updates on flight cancellation information, flight delay information, gate changes at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and boarding alerts at Schiphol via SMS as soon as the notification appears.
Passengers also can employ an additional pull-service to request arrival and departure information by sending an SMS including the flight number to an international Virtual Mobile Number (VMN) from End2End. These numbers can receive SMS from almost all countries in the world, even if a passenger is traveling in a foreign country.
According to Alexander Schebler, vice president of sales for End2End, KLM’s flight status notification service clearly illustrates that mobile messaging is a great way to provide time-critical information directly to a customer’s handset anytime and anywhere.
