The LG G Watch R will become Wi-Fi capable with the latest Android Wear update, the smartphone OEM announced Friday.
The new capability will allow wearers to receive notifications and other information with or without a Bluetooth connection. The Firmware Over-the-Air update will also allow the wearable device to support apps, such as weather displays and foreign language translations.
Additionally, the G Watch R, along with the company’s G watch and Watch Urbane will all now support interactive watch faces from Google Play.
The LG G Watch was unveiled in June 2014 and was followed by the G Watch R in October of the same year.
