LG Stages Phone Design Competition

By Wireless Week staff | April 24, 2009

LG Mobile Phones is offering creative minds a chance to help design a new phone – and it’s offering cash incentives.

LG is staging the competition along with crowdSpring and Autodesk. Any U.S. resident age 18 and older can participate and compete for cash awards.

The first place will be awarded $20,000, second place gets $10,000 and third place nets $5,000. Plus, LG will give out 40 honorable mentions of $1,000 and an LG phone.

Here’s how it works. Autodesk will supply participating designers with a free 15-day trial of SketchBook Pro, giving competitors – both amateur and professional – access to professional design software.

Both seasoned and aspiring designers are invited to submit their entries by June 7 at www.crowdspring.com/LG. Winners will be announced July 7. No purchase is necessary to participate.
