Late yesterday LG sent out invitations for its August 7 event to unveil its new G2 smartphone. The image accompanying the invite certainly looks like it’s hinting at fingerprint scanning technology for the phone.
The picture shows the reflection of a finger pressing against a small panel on the back of the phone. Lighted up and down arrows above and below the panel seem to confirm rumors of a rear-mounted volume controls.
LG has also launched a website teasing the G2. The site features a shadowy figure holding the G2 and hints at the features of the phone, like IPS technology for the display, a battery with a longer life and new privacy settings.
In Comscore’s latest U.S. smartphone market share numbers, LG was holding about steady with 6.7 percent.
