Limbo Adds Facebook Connect for iPhone, iPod touch

By Andrew Berg | March 17, 2009

Mobile social network Limbo announced that Limbo for iPhone and iPod touch now features Facebook Connect.

iPhone applications that implement Facebook Connect will allow for live interaction among friends and sharing of relevant content back to Facebook.

With Facebook Connect, Limbo members can see their Facebook friends on Limbo without their friends having to be Limbo members. They also can view the status of their friends on Limbo based on their Facebook status message, or automatically set an “On Facebook” status for members who are logged on and active on Facebook.

iPhone and iPod touch users can link their Limbo and Facebook accounts, enabling automatic status and activity updates that are shared between the two accounts.

“Our members want a new way to share their experiences from their iPhone or iPod touch with friends who may not yet be Limbo members,” said Jonathon Linner, Limbo’s CEO. “Now that Limbo features Facebook Connect for iPhone, they can easily share and distribute information and experiences with their friends via Facebook status updates, requests and notifications.”

Facebook and Limbo are just two of many communities looking for ways to connect across networks. Social networking aggregation applications are being released by the handful, and some operators are integrating them on their handsets.

As social networking sites like Facebook and Limbo continue to produce staggering numbers, players across the industry are searching ways to increase ARPU.

A recently released 2009 Nielsen report shows that from December 2007 to December of 2008, the amount of time spent on “Member Communities” rose by 63 percent, to 45 billion minutes; and on Facebook for the same time period, by a massive 566 percent, from 3.1 billion minutes to 20.5 billion minutes.
