Thirteen new mobile WiMAX devices have received the seal of approval from the WiMAX Forum. Each product underwent rigorous testing to ensure that it complied with interoperability and conformance standards.
The certified products include four base stations and nine subscriber stations from Alcatel-Lucent, GCT Semiconductors, Huawei Technologies, Motorola, NEC, Posdata, Redline Communications, Samsung, Telsima and ZTE.
More than a dozen more products still await certification testing.
In June 2008, the WiMAX Forum added four base stations and six mobile station modules operating in the 2.5 GHz frequency band from forum members including Airspan Networks, Alvarion Ltd., Beceem Communications, Intel, Motorola, Samsung, Sequans Communications and ZyXEL. All of the newly certified 2.5 GHz mobile station modules passed the mandatory MIMO testing for interoperability.
The WiMAX Forum expects to certify the first 3.5 GHz products by the end of 2008.
