Device management specialist Mformation is gradually expanding into mobile application management.
The company recently began interoperability testing with the new 3rd Edition of Nokia’s S60 operating system. As part of that effort, Mformation also tested its software with Nokia’s Mail for Exchange, VPN Client, Encryption, and Call Connect for Cisco Systems and Alcatel-Lucent.
Testing is done using the recently approved Open Mobile Alliance Software Component Management Object (OMA SCOMO) specification.
As the specification becomes more widespread and as more carriers and handset vendors develop application stores, so too will Mformation tailor its own software in support, officials said. New features are planned for the first quarter of next year, a spokesman said.
Upgrades also would be needed when the OMA updates its specifications from version 1.3 to version 2.0. Work on that is already underway.
