What economic downturn? The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) says 2008 has been its most successful year yet, having completed its global expansion and built “massive” growth in membership. The MMA now has more than 700 members.
Significant 2008 milestones include publication of an array of industry research, educational tools and guidelines; organization of a series of global events and awards; the creation of a new www.mmaglobal.com Website; completion of a global MMA network, with the addition of a Latin American branch; and the relocation of its headquarters from Denver to New York City.
Earlier this year, MMA President Laura Marriott announced her intention to leave that role; her replacement has not yet been announced. In a prepared statement, Marriott said it is realistic to expect mobile to represent a significant portion of media budgets within the next five years.
