Voice-activated mobile VoIP service provider Mobivox is getting together with Unyk to offer a voice-activated mobile service to Unyk’s user base, estimated at 10 million.
The deal will allow Unyk users the ability to navigate their address books, make low-cost calls around the world and use other Mobivox voice-activated telephony services from any phone, according to a release.
Unyk is a Montréal-based company that manages more than 480 million individual contacts for its global users. It automatically keeps its users’ multiple contact books synchronized through a centralized database stored in the network cloud. Whenever a user makes a change to his or her own contact details through Unyk.com, the service automatically updates all of the contacts’ cloud-based address books.
With the Mobivox deployment, the cloud-based contacts immediately become “portable memory” and are accessible by voice from any phone on any network around the world.
A measured beta release of Unyk’s voice-activated mobile services will become available in November, with worldwide general availability slated for January 2009.
