Motorola Invests in Game Developer Moblyng

By Andrew Berg | March 4, 2011

Motorola Mobility, through its strategic investment arm, Motorola Mobility Ventures, yesterday announced an equity investment in Moblyng, a developer and publisher of cross-platform, HTML5-based games for mobile devices and social networks.

Moblyng has published games for Android, Facebook, iOS and webOS platforms, which it says have seen downloads exceeding 9 million. Exact details of the deal were not immediately available.

“Moblyng was an early adopter of Android and is an industry leader in using HTML5 to bring cross-platform social gaming experiences to mobile devices. We look forward to accelerating the realization of their vision,” said Harshul Sanghi, managing director of Motorola Mobility Ventures.

Moblyng has produced such titles as m:Racing and Dungeon Quest for the Android platform, and is partnering with leading publishers such as Playdom to extend their games and brands to mobile devices and social platforms such as Facebook. For example, the collaboration with Playdom has included Android versions of Mobsters and Sorority Life.

Motorola Mobility Ventures joins Mohr Davidow Ventures and Deep Fork Capital in this round of financing.
