Motorola Mobility has appotined Rick Osterloh as its new Chief Operating Officer.

Olsterloh is an internal candidate who has been leading product management at Motorola over the past two years. He’s been with the company for seven years and came to the company via Motorola’s acquistion of Good Technology.

The announcement was made in an open letter on the company’s website by CEO Jonathan Rosenberg. Rosenberg took over last month as CEO for Denis Woodside, who has since moved to the COO role at Dropbox. 

The management shakeup comes as Motorola Mobility adjusts to life as part of Lenovo, which recently acquired the handset maker from Google. 

In January, Lenovo announced it would pay $2.91 billion for Mototola’s handset division, a fraction of the $12.4 billion Google paid for the business back in 2011. 

Osterloh will report to the Motorola operating Board at Google until Lenovo’s closes on the acquistion.
