Noting buzz around Motorola’s plans to launch Android devices, UBS Research today released a report detailing its expectations for the company in light of a media-only event the OEM will hold in San Francisco on Sept. 10.
Motorola is expected to release more details on its handset strategy at the September event, but UBS does not anticipate any official launch of products or services.
The report predicts a large focus on the keynote, scheduled to be given by Motorola’s co-CEO Sanjay Jha, as Motorola’s new handsets and strategy will be an important first step in gauging whether the company is headed in the right direction and how it may change the competitive landscape.
Motorola’s handset division has suffered for some time. As a result, the beleaguered OEM has had to put off plans to spin off its handset division, which was originally slated for completion by Oct. 10, 2010.
