In advance of next week’s CES, Motorola has announced a new mobile media player, which will play live television, on-demand video clips and programming saved on digital video recorders. The device will have a 4.3-inch screen, 5-minute memory buffer allowing users to pause live television, a battery life supporting up to four hours of playback and a memory card slot. Motorola said the media player will support the DVBH TV standard, backed by Nokia.
Motorola also announced a new desktop WiMAX product. The CPEi 100 is a single data port, 2.5 GHz “plug-and-play” WiMAX desktop interface. The wireless modem is part of Motorola’s MOTOwi4 family of broadband wireless access products. The company expects the CPEI 100 to be available in 2008 for WiMAX operators in the 2.5 GHz band.
