Former Motorola president Rick Osterloh is reportedly heading back to Google to run the company’s new hardware division.
According to a report from Re/code, Osterloh will rejoin the company as Senior Vice President overseeing Google’s Nexus handsets as well as the company’s Chromecast, consumer hardware, OnHub and Glass products. He will report directly to Google CEO Sundar Pichai, the report said.
The move will mark Osterloh’s return to Google. Osterloh was formerly head of hardware company Motorola, both before and after Google sold the business to Lenovo.
Osterloh left Motorola Mobility in March amid a broader structural reorganization and leadership shuffle at Lenovo.
At the time, Lenovo did not specify a reason for Osterloh’s departure, but said simply he “decided to leave Motorola Mobility.”
