Firefox today announced availablity of its first Firefox OS smarpthones in India. 

The budget-minded $33 “Cloud FX” smarpthone from Intex is available exclusively on Snapdeal.com. Firefox OS is a Web-based operating system developed by Mozilla. 

Dr. Li Gong, President of Mozilla, said in a statement that his company has received positive feedback on its phones in other markets. 

“With support from Intex, Firefox OS smartphones in the ultra-low-cost category will redefine the entry-level smartphone and create strong momentum in Asia,” Gong said.

The Intex Cloud FX comes running Firefox OS, and packs a modest 1 GHz processor and expandable memory of up to 4GB. It also boasts dual-SIM capabilities, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for easy connectivity, and built-in functionality for users to monitor data usage. 

Several languages are supported on the phone, including Hindi and Tamil.
