Mozilla, the maker of the Firefox web browser, today released a new iOS app that blocks analytics, social and advertising trackers.
The free app, dubbed Focus by Firefox, works on Safari and is similar to the content blocking service that the company provides in its private browsing mode on Firefox.
According to instructions posted in the Apple’s App Store, Focus by Firefox is super easy to configure, with set up requiring only the activation of the app in the content blockers section of Safari’s settings.
Right now, the app includes the ability to block ad trackers, analytics trackers, social trackers and other content trackers, such as embedded videos, photo slideshows and embedded items in news articles that could track a user. The app can also block Web fonts that can slow down web page loading.
On its Focus support page, Mozilla said the app “may also reduce your mobile data usage.”
The company said it plans to include more performance-enhancing features in the Focus app in the future.
Focus’s content blocking capabilities are currently only available on 64 bit devices running iOS 9 or above.
