Myxer today announced the launch of Myxer Wireless, a new online store for wireless services, devices and accessories, and it’s using online wireless retailer Simplexity to help build and manage its one-stop shopping destination.
The new Myxer Wireless Store features exclusive online savings on hundreds of wireless products, including those from handset manufacturers like HTC, LG, BlackBerry, Motorola and Samsung and others from every major U.S. carrier. The new store uses features from Simplexity’s activation and real-time online order status and tracking system, as well as order fulfillment.
Shoppers can look for the latest accessories, Android-powered smartphones, PDAs and netbooks – either by manufacturer, service provider or rate plan. They also have the ability to upgrade their phones, transfer service to new carriers or add new lines to an existing family plan.
The move clearly puts Myxer far beyond the ringtone space where it found early success. “With the newly launched Myxer Wireless store, we are able to offer our massive community of 36 million users a one-stop-shopping destination for all of their wireless needs,” said Myk Willis, CEO of Myxer, in a press release. “Our new Myxer Wireless store is directly in line with our next phase of growth as a company, where we are looking to broaden our consumer offerings.”
Jeff Baskin, vice president, Consumer Wireless Division of Simplexity, said Myxer already is one of the largest mobile websites in the United States, so it made perfect sense to expand its current product lineup to include the sale and activation of cell phones. “It is a tribute to our reputation in the wireless industry that they selected Simplexity to make this vision come to fruition,” he said.
Myxer says it has enabled more than 1.4 billion content downloads and its community of users download more than 90 million pieces of content every month. In addition to consumer offerings, Myxer works with more than 140,000 artists to deliver customizable mobile content to help artists connect with their fans.
