• SoundBite Communications announced it has won approval from Sprint Nextel to deliver Free-to-End-User (FTEU) text messages on the Sprint network. Companies and organizations will be able to send text messages without the recipient having to pay for the incoming text. SoundBite claims that it is currently the only provider to implement FTEU text messaging on all four major wireless carrier networks: AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
• LG has announced a UK distribution partnership with Brightstar Europe for the full range of LG Mobile handsets and accessories. LG said the agreement will further expand the U.K. market for its mobile handsets giving resellers in both the traditional mobile and IT channels access to LG Mobile’s portfolio and to Brightstar’s advanced distribution services.
• Pepsi partnered with marketer MyClick, launching its third Pepsi Creative Challenge as part of a 360-degree marketing campaign that will be supported across China on various traditional media, online and a mobile marketing campaign.
• Kyocera announced an enhanced technology for its iBurst 3.9G Mobile Broadband Wireless Access (MBWA) system that will begin appearing in iBurst base stations and terminals from Kyocera by Q4 2009.
