Nintendo will reveal its first game made specifically for smartphones tomorrow.
After reporting earnings on Tueday that missed analyst expectations by a large margin, the Japanese game console maker said it is set to reveal a new game for smartphones.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo will reveal which game franchise the new game will be tied to during a meeting with analysts on Thursday.
Back in March of this year, Ninteno confimed in a press that “new original games optimized for smart device functionality will be created, rather than porting games created specifically for the Wii U home console or the Nintendo 3DS portable system.”
Nintendo will create the games in partnership with DeNA. The companies plan to develop an online membership service that is accessible from smart devices, PC and Nintendo systems, such as the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U home console.
Nintendo reported an operating profit of 8.9 billion Yen ($74.6 million), which is up from a loss of $1.7 million in the year-ago quarter. Analysts had expected a profit of $119.6 million.
