Nokia yesterday admitted that some users were experiencing a problem with their Nokia N8 smartphones not powering on as they should.
According to a post on the company’s website, Nokia acknowledged that “a very small number of users have reported that their Nokia N8 is not switching on as it should.”
In a video that accompanied the post, Nokia Executive Vice President Niklas Savander said that now was the time to address the problem because the dialogue between Nokia and its customers on the matter had gone public.
“We have assessed [the problem] down to the way we assemble the engines,” Savander said in the video, stressing that Nokia has taken “immediate action across the product line.”
When asked how many users were experiencing the problem, Savander said that when one considers the total number of N8s shipped, it’s a relatively small number of people who have been affected.
Savander said that the phones are covered under Nokia’s standard warranty and that any consumer who feels they have the problem should contact a Nokia customer service outlet.
