Nokia is acquiring OZ, a Canadian mobile messaging provider, for an undisclosed amount.
OZ has 5.5 million monthly paid subscribers. Its technology lets mobile users access instant messaging services from AOL, Google, Microsoft and Yahoo.
Nokia and OZ have been partners since 2003. The deal is expected to close by the end of this year, after which OZ will merge into Nokia’s Services & Software division, the company said.
