Those customers patiently awaiting September delivery of their pre-ordered Nokia N8 smartphones will now have to wait until October for delivery.
According to a Nokia spokeswoman, unexpectedly high demand and the need to make a few amends to the N8 are grounds for pushing out initial shipments.
Nokia reports having received a record number of online pre-orders for the Nokia N8.
The company had targeted online pre-order customers to receive their Nokia N8s by the end of September but is now revising its forecast for arrival of the devices.
“As it can take time from the beginning of shipment to arriving at their doorstep, in full transparency, we have advised our pre-order customers that they should expect their new Nokia N8 in October,” said a spokeswoman.
Nokia’s N8 smartphone is the first to ship with Symbian ^3, the latest iteration of Nokia’s open-source mobile operating system. The company recently unveiled three new Symbian ^3 devices at its annual Nokia World conference.
