Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) and Iraqi operator Asiacell Communication have extended a multimillion dollar contract for the carrier’s 2G network expansion. NSN also will continue to provide the local support needed to run Asiacell’s operations in Iraq.
With the solution provided by NSN, Asiacell hopes to reduce capital and operational expenditure while maintaining high reliability of its network. Under the terms of the deal, Nokia Siemens Networks will provide Asiacell the latest in 2.5G technologies based on the company’s Flexi Base Station.
Financial terms of the deal were not announced. Last month, NSN signed a $150 million contract with rival carrier Zain.
