Nortel Taps 724 for FMC Messaging

By Staff Author | February 11, 2008

BARCELONA—Nortel selected 724’s Seamless Messaging solution for its fixed mobile convergence (FMC) enterprise solutions. Integrated with Nortel’s FMC Enterprise solutions, 724’s Seamless Messaging enables message routing between the enterprise network and the mobile network based on the presence of each enterprise user.

Messages are seamlessly routed to the device currently in use by the enterprise subscriber, in a format and context that allows them to be delivered into the standard clients available on those devices. As it is also integrated with Nortel’s CallPilot unified messaging platform, Seamless Messaging can also deliver voice mail alerts to users that are present in the mobile messaging network.

“We see the ability for users to communicate effortlessly as critical to an efficient business; people shouldn’t have to think whether people are mobile or in the office before they try to communicate,” said Peter Kelly, president of Enterprise for Nortel EMEA.

724’s Seamless Messaging is an any-to-any messaging solution that enables communication between subscribers and services from different domains, without requiring all parties to upgrade to the same technology. Seamless Messaging leverages network assets, such as identity and presence, to route and adapt messages as they flow through the network.

In related 724 news, China Mobile Communications Corporation Guangdong (CMCC GD), the largest provincial mobile network operator in China, selected 724’s Messaging and Content Management Solutions to power its Data services Content Management Platform (DCMP).
