NTT DoCoMo will be looking to Fujitsu to supply key IP components for its Long-Term Evolution (LTE) strategy.
Fujitsu will supply components of the core network system Evolved Packet Core, such as the systems that handle data transmissions with mobile phone handsets as well as systems that connect the core network to corporate and other external networks.
This technology will combine with Nokia Siemens Networks hardware and software to provide a flexible configuration to allow for growth and changing traffic conditions.
Two years ago, Fujitsu developed and manufactured base station and handsets for the Japanese operator.
