Qualcomm plans to conduct 5G interoperability tests in the 3.5 GHz spectrum band with a Chinese telecom equipment company.
Their 5G New Radio Interoperability and Development Testing program will use Qualcomm devices and base stations from Datang Mobile that comply with specifications approved by 3GPP.
Qualcomm officials said Datang has deployed numerous 5G technologies in China, as well as implemented standardization, ecosystem construction and industry upgrades.
The tests, the companies added, aim to accelerate the rollout of 5G NR commercial deployments in 2019.
“Qualcomm Technologies is committed to the continued success of China’s wireless industry, and we are excited to work with Datang Mobile to accelerate 5G commercialization in China,” said Durga Malladi, the subsidiary’s SVP of engineering.
