Mobile TV solutions provider QuickPlay Media will play a role in the presentation of a Fall Out Boy (FOB) concert in Toronto tonight.
Fans will get a chance to watch the concert live on their Rogers Wireless Vision phones. An after-show event also is being made available to Rogers Vision customers, and fans can vote for a song in FOB’s final set via text message.
QuickPlay, based in Toronto, has been involved in other live performances, but what’s unusual about this time is customers with 3G-capable video phones can access it for free, said Mark Hyland, vice president of marketing at QuickPlay. Normally, users have to subscribe to a certain plan to gain access, but that requirement is being waived this time.
The concert includes online, cable TV and video-on-demand components, as well as mobile. MuchMusic and Rogers are partnering on the multiplatform access to the performance.
