According to the Cellular Operators Association of India, the country’s GSM-based wireless carriers added 5.9 million users in February, bringing the fastest-growing wireless telecom market to 184.7 million total GSM subscribers by the end of the month.
According COAI, Bharti Airtel signed up 2.3 million new users in February, Vodafone Essar added 1.4 million new subscribers and Idea Cellular and Bharat Sanchar Nigam added nearly 1 million new users each.
The 5.9 million new GSM subscribers in February does not include the country’s second largest wireless carrier, CDMA operator Reliance Communications, which added 1.6 million subscribers in January.
